Assalamualaikum Friend,
Alhamdulillah, we are now once again in the blessed month of Ramadan. What a great blessing to have another opportunity to gain the numerous rewards on offer, through the Great Mercy of our Creator.
The NZF Team would like to extend their sincerest wishes to you, to have a healthy and blessed Ramadan and may all your duas be accepted. We would also like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt Jazakallah Khairan to each and every one of you for your trust and on-going support you have given us.
Can you believe it is already been three years since we started? In that three years, we have achieved more than what I could have ever imagined when we first started. This is firstly due to the Blessings of the Almighty Allah and then because of your support in having entrusted us with your Zakat. Thus far we have serviced over 2458 cases and distributed:
- $ 1,550,933.20 in Zakat;
- $ 40,141.15 in Zakat-ul- Fitr;
- $ 24,480.00 in Fidyah and Kaffaarah
Astonishing results by any standards, Alhamdulillah. And we have evidence that we have merely scratched the surface of the real need here in Australia.
Let me share a story that illustrates our local work in a nutshell. Yesterday we visited a Syrian refugee family (father, wife and five children) who has been in Australia for about one year now. A neighbour alerted us that they may need help. In the first ten minutes we were there the sister could not stop crying. When our caseworker asked her why she’s crying, she replied:
“Sister, for the last year the Salvation Army has been helping us, I am so happy and overwhelmed to finally see Muslims coming to help us.”
There are many more stories that will make you happy and unfortunately many that will make you sad. But be rest assured the issue of local need has never been more important. With the twelve thousand refugees estimated to arrive in July, we at NZF are gearing up to help and ensure our fellow Muslims are cared for by Muslims as well.
Remember we have a 100% Zakat distribution policy, meaning you give $1 we distribute $1 to the most vulnerable Muslims in our community across Australia.
So what do we need from you this Ramadan?
- Make Dua for us to remain sincere.
- Continue to trust and support us.
- Share our messages so we can help more Muslims in Australia.
- If you know someone who needs help, tell us or ask them to contact us.
- Come and visit us in our new offices in Lakemba, Coburg and Bentley.

MyZakat App (coming soon) Alhamdulillah a mobile for all your Zakat calculation & education needs is something we have been working on for a while, and while the aim was to have it ready by Ramadan, unfortunately we have had a few slight delays and the app is undergoing it's final stages of testing.
We want to make sure it's working perfectly and as per our high NZF standards before rolling out to you :), so please bear with us. We will let you know once this is released insha Allah!

And lastly we request that you be patient with us and every other charity this Ramadan as you will most likely be bombarded with e-mails, FaceBook, Whatsapp, etc., messages, all asking for the money that does not belong to you, your Zakat! Don’t get annoyed, be grateful that Allah has put us all in a position where we have so many opportunities available to us to donate and do good.
May Allah make this a very blessed Ramadan for you and may we all live to see Eid-ul- Fitr, Aameen.
