Subject: Friend What are your thoughts on this?

Assalamu Alaykum Friend

Hope you're well insha Allah. As you might be aware last week the team at NZF have been busy distributing Qurban to the needy here in Australia. This was a testing period, particularly with lockdown conditions in Melbourne but Alhamdulillah most of the work has now been done!

What you might not know is this week is also Homelessness Week 2020 (today is the last day). While the team was busy with Qurban distribution, we were receiving calls & applications from Muslims right here in Australia who were homeless or at risk of being homeless with no where to go subhna Allah.

We speak to many people and they tell us that they believe homelessness is mainly due to laziness or a choice people make. From the people we have assisted, I guarantee this is not the case. To help create awareness, our team has put together short stories of 6 real people, right here in Australia, who have reached out to us for assistance in the past few weeks. These include a young single mother, an international student, a victim of domestic violence and migrants on a refugee visa.

Alhamdulillah through your support, your local Zakat is going towards assissting such people but we have a lot more work to do to address the root cause of such issues. No doubt, with Allah's Will and your support, we will be able to tackle this as a community, insha Allah.

Friend We would love to hear your thoughts on this. What has your view been on homelessness? Do you know people impacted by this in our community here in Australia? Please do reply to this email and let us know so we can have this important conversation.

Jazakumullahu khayran for your support & duas as always.

Wassalam,

Farooq Syed
