Here are some more updates on what you’ve helped us achieve so far and what lies ahead, inshaAllah. With your growing support, and the helping hands of our Program and Service Partners, our team has been able to continue building the NZF Community Programs to focus on growing our services for some of the most vulnerable Muslims in our community.
For our Healing Forward Program, which is designed to help Domestic Violence victims, we’ve been working on projects in liaison with various educational and community organisations to ensure that we establish ways to end the cycle of violence from its origin. Respectful Relationships is one of the projects currently being developed for a number of local schools which we hope to start soon inshaAllah. The purpose of this project is to teach children and teenagers about how to recognise and practice values that maintain healthy relationships in all aspects of their life. Mawaddah & Rahmah is another project that is being developed within local community and counselling facilities for married couples who are struggling with reconciling their relationship and are in need of professional and spiritual guidance.
Our New Beginnings Program, which is designed to help victims of drug abuse and addictions, has been developing through several partnerships in the community: Connect-Rediscover-Reconnect is a drug and alcohol support & recovery service created in partnership with The Rehabilitation Project and Brothers in Need to connect Muslim brothers through weekly group catch-ups, workshops, recreational activities and support networks to recover from addictions. Read more about this service HERE. Rehabilitation centres for Muslims is one of the biggest gaps we have identified through our work in the community over the years. There is an absence of rehabilitation programs and facilities for Muslims in Australia who are wanting to heal and push away from substance abuse and other destructive behaviours, while being in a safe space that helps them access the right resources to reconnect with Islam. We've been working with various NGOs and local councils to establish Rehabilitation services for Muslims in current centres and inshaAllah our own centres in the future.
Lastly and most importantly, NZF has been taking key steps for the Breaking Barriers Program as we have been actively working with local mosques/prayer facilities throughout Sydney (and inshaAllah Melbourne) to review, assess and provide resources for better accessibility of the facilities for Muslims with Special Needs in the community. Mothers of the Believers series - NZF and UMA event We are partnering with one of our most significant Service Partners, along with various Australian Muslim community influencers and leaders, are coming together this year to revive an initiative known as – The Mothers of the Believers series. This series captures inspirational stories, values and wisdom from the lives of our Mothers, the wives of the Prophet SAW, and how we can all use these lessons to be spiritually uplifted from our own struggles. Stay tuned for more updates on this event. |
