An update on the NZF Refugees Ansaar Program
The federal government has faced some delays on the Syrian Refugee Resettlement Program, however they are anticipating that the first families will begin arriving in March. The Government has contracted out resettlement services to various Non-Government Agencies around the country. Their role will be to provide the families with their immediate needs, primarily housing, employment training and general assistance with their daily living needs. These agencies have been provided funding for this as well.
NZF is partnering with these agencies to provide complimentary services, services that these agencies cannot provide. This will include spiritual and moral support, assistance in locating and connecting with local Muslim communities, enrolling children into Qur'an schools and where required supplementary financial support.
NZF cannot do this by itself, and will require the community's support, and this is where you and your family will play a vital role. We are preparing an induction program for volunteer families like yourselves to give you an understanding of what to expect, what resources are out there and how YOU can assist NZF.
Please note that volunteering for this Ansaar program will not require any financial requirement from you. All refugee families financial needs will be met by the Federal Government and any additional assistance required will be met by NZF where appropriate.
So please look out for an invitation to an induction for our Refugees Ansaar program in the next few weeks, and we look forward to meeting you soon.
