The Love of Angel Art on Valentine’s Day
Just as love has many levels, so does the hierarchy of the angels. Angels are benevolent celestial beings including influencers, guardians and messengers in between the human realm and the realm of the divine. Human beings can receive guidance from angels at the basic human level of the senses and the emotional nature, all the way up to the highest realm of spirit and oneness with God in all of life.
The icon of Valentine’s Day is Cupid, who, together with his brotherly legion of whimsical earthly charmers, forms a level of the hierarchy of angels with a blissful ignorance of the higher consciousness of existence. In ancient Roman mythology, Cupid (or Eros in Greek mythology) is the god of desire, erotic love, attraction and affection. He is the son of Venus, the goddess of love, and Mars, the god of war. Cupid’s power is in his bow and arrow, with which he shoots people with uncontrollable desire, and mischievously takes pleasure in influencing human lives with emotion. Renaissance painters transformed Cupid from the slender young winged hunter of Classical Greek art into the chubby baby boy angel flying in the clouds, and he then became more synonymous with the sacred army of Cherubs and Putti that represented the omnipresence of God in the Baroque period of art.
In the highest choir of angels is the pure celestial light of the Seraphim that fly in circular ecstasy chanting the holiness of God in Heaven, eager to do His good work. They are known as mystical divine messengers who burst into song at sunrise, and tirelessly kindle the fire of transformation in our souls to destroy ignorance with enlightenment.
If you just want to show a little affection on Valentine’s Day, or if you want to truly spread the Love of the Higher Realm to every one you see, the angels will help you do it. And what an easier way to get a beautiful angelic message out into the world than to wear one of our tees printed with an antique angel art reproduction? |
