“The scars didn’t worry me at all. I was this bossy, busy little girl who thought she would rule the Empire. I continued with my love of books and of reading, and powerful princess stories and the Secret Seven. But by the time I was about thirteen, things really shifted… and I suppose that’s why I have such empathy with teen girls. I thought no-one would ever love me, because of my scars and I thought that I wouldn't make friends because of them. The more I hid, the more it felt like this big, dark secret.” |
