Welcome to the Mounted Patrol Foundation quarterly newsletter 


THE CONTINUING TALE OF TWO BRIDGES


Towne Creek Bridge - With weather now cooperating and the sinkhole having been repaired, the project is fully underway. The footings, the heavy beams, the sturdy Alaskan Cedar walkway and the railings have all been installed. This lovely structure is 6 feet wide to accommodate emergency vehicles and will be safe and sound for all equestrians to enjoy. The best part is they have installed French drains at each end to ensure the wash out does not happen again. With just the caps to install on the railings it is anticipated the bridge will be complete in the next two weeks! Big thanks to Mike Bushue for making this project a reality and to the dozen or so volunteers that made it happen in short order and on budget.
Center Trail Bridge - We are happy to report the Town Engineer, Sean Rose, has been working diligently to keep this project moving forward. So far the Geotechnical engineer has completed the soils survey, the engineering design is progressing and the environmental permits are in the review process. If things keep progressing, we anticipate this project will be completed by late this year or early next year. We want to once again say thank you to WHOA, the Mounted Patrol Foundation, Woodside Community Foundation, CHAPS, Woodside Trail Club and several individual donors for their generous donations to this project.

JR. RODOE COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED 

Big congratulations to Makenna Byrne from Gridley CA who was the recipient of this years Jr. Rodeo College Scholarship Award.  The Mounted Patrol Foundation awarded this $2000 scholarship to Makenna based on her outstanding academic achievements, excellent equestrian skills and public service. 

Makenna comes from a big rodeo family and has been involved in High School and college Rodeo over the last 9 years. She lives on her family’s farm and helps with their feed processing business. In college she plans to major in Ag business so that she may bring new and innovative knowledge to this commercial operation. We are proud to support her academic endeavors and wish her all the best as she embarks on her college experience. Thanks to the Bill Lane Western Heritage Fund, the Friends of Huddart & Wunderlich Parks and the Mounted Patrol Foundation for making this scholarship possible. 



We are delighted to have the opportunity to reach out to our equestrian friends and look forward to communicating with you regularly regarding our efforts and other areas of interest to our community. We also invite you to provide feedback on issues we are not aware of where the Foundation and our supporters may be of assistance.
