Welcome to the inaugural issue of the Mounted Patrol Foundation Newsletter!
The Mounted Patrol Foundation is the charitable arm of the Mounted Patrol of San Mateo County. We strive to support, maintain, develop and encourage equestrian facilities, activities and heritage in the area. Since its founding in 2003, the Foundation has donated $373,000 to various projects, causes and scholarships within our local equestrian community. Some of these grants include trail improvements, such as the Wunderlich bypass trail, donations to help horses displaced in the recent wild fires, and support for Junior Riders, 4-H and various equine therapy programs. We also will once again be awarding two scholarships to young college-bound equestrians at the Mounted Patrol’s 4th of July Junior Rodeo.
Currently we are focused on raising money and managing the replacement of the bridge over Towne Creek in Pescadero Creek County Park. This will allow riders and hikers to once again enjoy the beautiful Towne Creek Valley trails which have been inaccessible for the last two years. The hope is to begin work in April of this year and have the bridge open by June 1st. We currently need $25,000 to complete this project and have raised a little over two thirds of this to date. We are delighted to have the opportunity to reach out to our equestrian friends and look forward to communicating with you regularly regarding our efforts and other areas of interest to our community. We also invite you to provide feedback on issues we are not aware of where the Foundation and our supporters may be of assistance.
Thanks so much for joining us and happy trails!
