Announcing the Mounted Patrol Foundation's Annual Report for 2021

The Mounted Patrol Foundation believes horses and equestrian activities have helped create a wonderful, healthy community in and around Woodside, California. We seek to honor the legacy of this area by continuing to support, maintain, develop and encourage equestrian facilities, activities and heritage in the Town of Woodside, the County of San Mateo and the State of California. 

In the 18 years since our founding, the MPF has made grants in excess of $524,000 to over 40 horse- and equestrian-related organizations, activities, and facilities. The Endowment fund started by founding members in 2003 has grown to $421,000 and makes annual discretionary grants of 5% of the principal balance every year.


Grant activity for 2021 A total of over $72,000 awarded

San Mateo County Large Animal Evacuation Group         $45,606
LAEG provides rescue and evacuation for horses during 
fires or other disasters.

Pescadero Creek Park Trail clearing                                   $11,739
The San Jose Conservation Corp was hired to clear all
the trails so Jack Brook Horse Camp could be opened 
in June.

The Woodside Equestrian Merit Scholarship                      $ 5,000

SMCHA Riding Clinics at the Mounted Patrol                     $ 1,800
The MPF paid for the trainers that conducted educational
clinics for local equestrians.

Sheriff’s Activity League - Trail Rides for Youths                 $   720
SAL serves to strengthen relationships between youth, 
deputies, and communities to aid in the intervention and 
prevention of juvenile delinquency.

*The Mounted Patrol Foundation and the Woodside-area Horse Owners Association (WHOA!) are offering a $10,000 Woodside-area Equestrian Merit Scholarship Award to a deserving local high school senior with a demonstrated involvement in equestrian activities as well as academic achievement and community service.

**The Sheriff's Activity League (SAL) was founded in 1997 with the purpose of strengthening relationships between youth, deputies, and communities to aid in the intervention and prevention of juvenile delinquency in San Mateo County through positive, dynamic programs. The MPF worked with the Sheriff’s office to create a program that provided horseback training and trail riding in Wunderlich Park.
