Hiya!
This week I want to let you know the BIG THREE LIFE LESSONS I’ve learnt that have helped me most in my life.
Interested to know what they are?
Here we go!
LESSON ONE:
Always start the conversation first. If you wait for other people to talk to you, you’ll wait forever. This lesson helped me make more friends and turn my crushing shyness into the social skills I have today.
This one lesson has increased my confidence in communicating with others because if you start a conversation and open up to others you will get a pleasant response and once the conversation has begun, your confidence will grow. Understanding that others find you interesting is a big confidence booster, but beware! It is important to listen and to be interested in what others have to say.
Lesson Two:
Defend yourself!
The worst piece of advice I was ever given was from my father. I love my father but his advice hurt me deeply for years. It shook my self confidence to the core.
What was this advice? As a kid we moved around so much. England, Australia, England again.
I was the new kid at school (a horrible experience). I changed schools, I don’t know how many times and lost friends. I was bullied because my father told me “when you are new at school keep quiet and ignore them if they tease you. If they pick on you for being new, ignore them, they’ll soon get bored.”
No they didn’t! Not at all!
They made my life a misery. I dreaded going to school and I became shy.
I think this haunted me for years even into my thirties and I finally stood up, gave my opinion and stopped worrying about what others thought of me. I became less shy. I had suffered loneliness and pain for years during my childhood and it had all been in my head.
Lesson Three:
Listen to others…
So I’m going quiet now and would love to listen to what you have to say..
