What is a DFC Gathering?

A faith-based friendship group for people with disabilities, developed by the local church, that meets regularly, enriching lives through Spiritual support and the exchange of helpful information, resources, mentorship, encouragement, and opportunities for fun and friendship.

We believe there should be regular outreach specifically designed for people with disabilities to provide faith-based support and fellowship by responding to needs that arise in the disability community. By providing opportunities for people with intellectual and physical disabilities to experience God, be included in the church, be discipled for Christ and build meaningful relationships with caring believers who have welcoming hearts, we can share the hope of Christ.

15-20 percent of your community is made up of people with disabilities

Being a part of a DFC Gathering, gives people with disabilities an opportunity to be involved with something bigger than themselves, thereby not allowing their disability to consume them. A gathering can provide spiritual and emotional support and improve the quality of life, forming bonds between members of the gathering. The intentional outreach of a church to engage in the lives of people with disabilities impacts the whole community with an eternal perspective.
