Subject: We Celebrate the Freedom to Provide Faith-Based Opportunities

Two people are better than one. They can help each other in everything they do. Suppose either of them falls down. Then the one can help the other one up. But suppose a person falls down and doesn’t have anyone to help them up. Then feel sorry for that person! ~ Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 NIRV

We are blessed to be in a country that gives us the freedom, the right, to gather in a community of faith. God desires for us to come together, to encourage each other. He made us as unique individuals, all walking in our own faith journey, and desires for us to learn from one another and help one another along the way.

The Special Touch Ministry Summer Get Away program provides an opportunity for every participant to experience God and this community that comes in fellowship with other believers. Summer Get Away is a place where every BODY can feel accepted and welcome, no matter their level of faith or ability. Bringing hope to those without hope, praying with those who may not be able to pray themselves, and providing an environment where God is changing lives!

Charlie Chivers Summer Get Away Scholarship Award

“A few years ago, at Summer Get Away, James was able to learn details of wheelchair safety (using brakes and securing with lock downs) while “assisting”. Having a large desire to serve and this new learned skill, for the past seven months James has been “assisting” a veteran who lives near us, in and out of his home and in and out of a van (no agency-hired caregiver would drive out just to assist). This has been a large blessing to this family. God’s plan is amazing!” ~Becky

At 2022 Wisconsin Summer Get Away, James received the first Charlie Chivers Summer Get Away Scholarship Award. Each year, this award, which includes a scholarship to be used toward Summer Get Away tuitions, will be presented to that special person who joyfully shares Gods love and has a heart of compassion. This includes serving others at home, at church, and in their community, throughout the entire year.

In addition to serving those in need in his community, James offers to pray with others and regularly shares his desire to help when people share their need. His magnetic personality draws others to him, who he encourages to join him in serving. We are thrilled to be able to provide this award to a young man who exhibits such a strong Servant’s Heart.
