Subject: Providing everyBody an Opportunity to Experience God through STM Chapters.

The primary reason Special Touch Ministry exists is evangelism: providing everyBODY an opportunity to experience God.

Special Touch Chapters are faith-based friendship groups that meet locally providing fellowship, support and spiritual mentorship to individuals and families impacted by disability.

Special Touch Beaver Dam Chapter recently acted out the Story in Mark 2 where the four friends brought their friend who was paralyzed to Jesus. "Jesus healed our friend! We knew He could do it and He did." I hope you have friends who are Stretcher Bearers to "take you to Jesus."

While the local church is the ideal place to nurture and disciple new believers in the Christian faith, many individuals impacted by disability are unable to find a church able to meet their specific needs.

One resource the STM Chapter uses is the Word Walk™ Curriculum. Lessons consist of sections in which a lesson or bible story is read, acted out, discussed among the group, and personally applied with a closing prayer. Word Walk™ is adaptable, to fit the intellectual level (basic and advanced) of those attending.

Depending on the dynamics, instructors spend more time on the components their group particularly enjoys. For example, many participants really enjoy the opportunity to act out a bible story.

Your prayers and financial support make it possible to produce resources like the Word Walk™ Curriculum that ease and enrich the lives of people impacted by disability.

"My experience of writing was very painful after my daughter Jackie died in 1991, I was asked to share at a women’s meeting. I found out that as I wrote, even though it was hard, I realized it was healing. I realized it was also healing for those hearing it."

After receiving encouragement during the 1986 Wisconsin Summer Get Away, God led Nancy, a parent of children with disabilities, to start the STM Chapter in Beaver Dam. This was the first local group provided to support both the individuals AND families impacted by disability. Still a part of the local Chapter ministry today (serving as Chapter President), Nancy continues to provide encouragement as she shares her story in a blog titled THE GARDEN.

For those who have cared for someone with a disability or lost people in their lives, Nancy hopes that you find comfort in reading her story.
