OUR VERTIGO UPDATE

Is it Dizziness or is it Vertigo

Dizziness is an altered sense of spatial orientation. True vertigo, is the sensation of self-movement or the movement of your surroundings – it's a spinning sensation. Check out these types.

What are Vestibular Disorders

Vestibular dysfunction is a disturbance of the body's balance system. We differentiate the condition into some of the different causes.

Spinning with Head Movement- maybe its BPPV

Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo ( BPPV) is probably the most common vestibular disorder and is thought to be due to debris moving into the ears semicircular canals. Great news is Physio can put you straight again.

Still Dizzy?- Could be PPPD

Persistent postural-perceptual dizziness (PPPD), is a common cause of long-lasting dizziness and is categorised by non-spinning dizziness, or unsteadiness, that lasts for longer than 3 months.

What is Tinnitus and what can you do

Tinnitus is the perception of noise or ringing in the ears, often accompanying vestibular disorders.

Heres our patient handout to help explain the current understanding of tinnitus.
