VIETNAM WAR: THE NATION DIVIDED

The question of foreign entanglements goes back to the founding of our nation and an admonition from George Washington.  Isolationism vs. Engagement.  With the emergence of the United States as a great power the lesson learned was that isolationism only encourages aggression resulting in higher death tolls.  The debate continues to the present day.   "Brothers Forever" was taken in South Vietnam on June 15, 1970 roughly six weeks following the protests on the campus of Kent State.
Perhaps the anti-war movement reached its zenith with the incident at Kent State on May 4, 1970 when National Guard troops opened fire on the campus killing four students.  The image of a fallen student only served to strengthen the movement.  "Tin soldiers and Nixon coming, We're finally on our own, This summer I hear the dsrumming, Four dead in Ohio."  --Neil Young
