UNEMPLOYMENT DURING THE GREAT DEPRESSION

Two views on the unemployment issue during the Great Depression. For men in the city, checking job postings on a daily basis became the norm. Above is "Great Depression: Men Looking for Work"; California c.1931. The scene below, "Men Looking for Work"; Cadron Creek, Arkansas c.1934,  shows men on a railroad bridge with their bedrolls headed toward the Ozark or Ouachita National Forest looking for work.  Survival is the name of the game.
