THE OTHER HALF

Video may be all the rage today, but I would argue that it is only the still image that has the capacity to most effectively move us to action.  Despite the prosperous times for the United States known as the "Roaring Twenties" not all would appear to have shared equally.  "City Girl", c.1925 is a case in point.  A free market based society creates winners and losers, but it is the responsibility of the winners to try and help those less fortunate from falling off the cliff altogether.
Necessity is the mother of invention it is said.  We think that "The Goat Cart", Cincinnati, Ohio (c.1921) is a fine example of American ingenuity.  Folks making do with what they have.  The family is the primary social institution, and material wealth does not necessarily bring happiness.  Some of our most precious memories are from simple pleasures in life.
