Above is a photo that we call "White Lightning"; Evansville, Indiana (July 10, 1929). A young woman enjoys a sip of moonshine while standing atop a haystack. Little did the people anticipate the Crash of '29 just 3 1/2 months later would change life so dramatically. Trapped in the "Mississippi Cotton Fields" (September 1930) below, these cotton pickers had a life of toil picking cotton in the Mississippi delta.
