THE AMERICAN DREAM

Ahh...life's simple pleasures, memories and hopes for a better future.  Photos that fall into this category we call "The American Dream".  We think that "Rocking Chair Man", Indiana (c.1931) is symbolic in representing the American  Dream.  Just to be a survivor and enjoy some peace and quiet seems to be enough for him.
On the sidewalks of New York.  These children are enjoying the simple pleasure of "Jumping Rope", Manhattan (May 1, 1926).  Games were sometimes invented from the environment in which these children lived.  Stoop ball, punch ball, stick ball, Johnny on the Pony, and hit the penny were pastimes for children growing up in the big city. Somehow I think we survived quite well without modern electronics.
