DPI has an extensive collection of images from Texas. It is difficult not to appreciate the struggle for survival in the Texas environment. The struggle continues to this day despite modern conveniences. Above, is a photo that we call "Two Guys From Texas" c.1930. Texans suffered more than most during the Great Depression as there were dislocations due to the effects of the Dust Bowl. Below, is "Texas Women" c.1920. A group of women standing on a dirt road for unknown reasons. The scene does not appear to be a happy one.
