SHOULD I STAY OR SHOULD I GO?

It depends. The phrase takes on meaning depending on the circumstances which are never exactly the same.  On a trip in western United States a distant rest facility may be the last one available for quite some time in "Should I Stay Or Should I Go?" (1917). Below, the phrase takes on an entirely different meaning for "The Card Players"; Texas (1955). Hold 'em or fold 'em or maybe raise.  See more photos in our People collection.
