REALITY

There is the world that we would like it to be, and then there is the world that is. The quality of 100 year old images is not always as we would like them to be. The significance of these images is more important than their technical flaws. Above is a photo that we call "Servitude"; U. S. c.1910. Taken at a time of clear class distinctions. Below is a photo that we call simply "Cotton Weighing"; Georgia c.1916. Taken in the cotton fields. You see society from your own point of view. Things were never so good or so bad depending upon your personal vantage point. See more photos in our People collection. Results of the voting from August 18.  Sepia - 62.5%, B&W - 37.5%.
