RARE PHOTOS - BONUS ARMY MARCHERS

A disturbing episode in American history. As the Great Depression deepened these World War I veterans assembled from all over the United States to arrive in Washington, D. C. for the purpose of demonstrating for release of bonus money promised to them by Congress. Their camp outside Congress was destroyed by the local police with the help of the army.  The photo above, "Bonus Army Marchers in Baltimore" was taken on May 1, 1932 as veterans began to near the nation's capitol.
