POST-WAR JAPAN

To be sure, there is an infinite supply of important images to document in our daily lives if only we train ourselves to see them.  On the other hand, to be immersed in a conflict situation can create a plethora of striking images in a matter of seconds.  The commitment of a photojournalist to his or her craft creates images that define the period.  Above is a scene of an old man holding a young boy in post-war Japan as a nation struggles to rebuild and its citizens struggle to rebuild their lives.  "Old and Young", Japan c.1946.
This Japanese mother and child appear to be getting their lives back to normal several years later.  "Post-War Japan", c.1953.
