PHOTOS WE LOVE
"Studebaker and the Girl" (c.1943) is a DPI homage to Kevin Carter. It was Carter who gave the world "Vulture and the Girl" from his work in Sudan. Carter was a member of the "Bang Bang Club" in South Africa during the apartheid period. This 1940 Studebaker "Commander" looms menacingly behind this young girl.

"North Carolina - c.1941" is another image from the early 1940s. The hardscrabble life is evident on this rural couple. It is clearly a photo that tells a story and deserves recognition in our People collection. These two images and many others are available from our People collection.
