PHOTOS THAT LOOK LIKE PAINTINGS

We have made this argument in a previous newsletter, but we think it is worthwhile to illustrate the point once again.  "Campfire" (c.1917) has this quality of a resembling a painting from another time and place. Reproduced here in sepia it works better than black and white to set the time period. 
A magnificent example of a wooden railroad bridge through the California mountains.  "California Railroad Bridge" (1960).  Perhaps this is not the place to visit if one suffers from acrophobia. In its clarity and simplicity we think it makes a statement as more of a work of art than a photograph.
