The above photo we call "The Great Equalizer: Hard Times"; U. S. c.1930. The Great Depression affected people in different ways. We might borrow a current phrase and say that all gave some while some gave all. Below is a photo that we call "Life on the Navajo Rez"; New Mexico (1936). Life hasn't changed that much on the reservation, because when you have nothing to begin with you have less to lose. Notice the hogans in the rear.
