A young girl stands outside her family home in "Rangoon, Burma"(1917). Photo taken on August 11, 1917 almost exactly 100 years ago. Today Burma is known as Myanmar and Rangoon is called Yangon. We assess that the photo below, "AID Worker Among the Children" was taken in Papua-New Guinea c.1950. Former colonial powers, the U. K. and France in particular, tend to supply media coverage that is more extensive than that of the U. S. media with respect to areas previously under their control.
