EARTH DAY

Pollution of the environment has been an ongoing concern for many decades. The crisis in Flint, Michigan is just the latest in a string of disasters. We are reminded of Erin Brokovich's fight against Pacific Gas and Electric, the debacle at the Love Canal and the oil spill at Valdez, Alaska just to name a few. Earth Day is a response to these forms of man-made pollution. "Earth Day Demonstration"; Manhattan, NYC (April 22,1970) as shown in these two photos was a reaction in those times to the problems of the day. View the complete photo essay taken by Len Alberici.
