DISPATCH ON ASSIGNMENT

As a general observation children tend to be curious when meeting foreigners.  These two photos would seem to indicate that rules are meant to be broken.  The photo above, "Cambodian Villagers" was taken during the French occupation of Indo China (c.1935).
These citizens of Mazar-i-Sharif, Afghanistan (1968) display an obvious wariness around foreigners.  This is as a result of the cumulative effect of multiple invasions of their homeland going back centuries.  There is a world as we would like it to be, and then there is the world that is.
