BACK IN THE DAY

It has been only one hundred years.  A snippet of time in human history, but look how far we have come.  These "Bauxite MIners" (c. 1912) in the Mojave Desert/Death Valley area of California symbolize how things were done before the advent of labor saving machinery.  Hard work and the dangers involved were a fact of life.
The "Four Bottom Plow" (c. 1912) had to be pulled by a team of four horses.  I happen to own such a plow and I can attest to its weight.  The farmer is held in high regard earning the respect of fellow citizens as his dedication to hard work helped to feed the nation.
