| | APPALACHIA: MAIN STREET
We present two images taken on West Market Street in Cadiz, Ohio c.1940. Similar photos were taken by some of the Farm Security Administration photographers during the Great Depression. The work of John Vachon, in particular, is quite similar except that he would have preferred to shoot the images in the rain. "Appalachia: Main Street" highlights angle parking, but also the Fourth National Bank of Ohio is visible in the above photo in the middle of the block. The bank is partially visible in the photo below. Of significance in the photo below appears to be a coffee shop named Waldorf. No relation to the Waldorf Astoria hotel. Licensing is based on usage.
