With all due respect to Neil Young's "After the Gold Rush" we do not intend to present any hidden meanings in these photos. Originals were platinum prints. Prospectors looking to hit it rich during the Great Depression. After all, what did they have to lose? Original California Gold Rush was in 1849, but prospectors were attempting to tap gold deposits missed in earlier explorations. Perhaps seeking a little humor in their situation these prospectors staked their "claim" (c.1930) in "Golden Oaks" above and in nearby "Lake Hope" below. Licensing is based on usage.
