Thanks for all the emails over the last few weeks. I take it as a compliment that you noticed I haven’t posted to my blog in a while. I’ve been extremely busy supporting my new team with the company I recently helped launch and, on top of that, I had minor surgery that kept me out of action for a period of time. The good news is that I’m back to 100% and life is good.
I saw a special on some sports channel the other day. The topic of the documentary was Player or Pretender. It documented several of the top NCAAF recruits for this year and the commentators were giving their insights into whether or not each player would be a Player or Pretender in the NFL.
I’m more of a hockey guy but I do enjoy watching college football from time to time. Especially given the fact that the Minnesota Golden Gophers are actually decent this year. Honestly…I didn’t know many of the players they were talking about but I picked up on a common theme as they started to label these football stars as a Player or Pretender. What I noticed is that the commentators kept talking about INTANGIBLES.
Intangibles are those things that are incapable of being realized or defined. I guess you could also call it the X Factor. It’s also the “thing” that makes some people beat to a different drum. That “thing” that causes a person to rise up out of the ashes against all odds.
There are plenty of talented people out there in any given area. But talent alone will only get you so far. When it comes to picking a team you’re not necessarily looking for the best players…you’re looking for the RIGHT players.
