Daily encouragement for men of faith
“For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, “

~ 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 NIV
I can’t imagine what Jesus felt.

Good Friday represents the day Christ died the most brutal death in the history of the world to bring salvation to the entire world.

I recall when my son gets in trouble and knows discipline by way of a “leather strip” is on its way. I can see the terror in his eyes. He would do or say anything at the moment to relieve himself from having to endure the pain the belt will bring.

But it is so miniscule when compared to what Christ suffered in his flesh.

The physical abuse is unimaginable. The verbal abuse, one could argue, was even worse.

Yet Christ endured it all and stayed the course. With the power to lift his pinky finger and wipe out the entire mankind, he chose to die so that we could live.

As a man, it would be practically impossible for me to allow someone to physically and verbally abuse me in front of my children and loved ones. Yet Christ endured it all, in front of all, to save all.

Even those who hated him and would hate him.

That’s love.

And it is sooooo powerful.

Take some time out today to reflect on the cross. The amazing sacrifice Christ went through to free us from the depths of hell.

What a mighty, merciful, loving, compassionate, empathetic, graceful, and wonderful God we serve.

Let’s pray…

“Jesus…wow. What you chose to endure for my sake is amazing. Your death is the ultimate example of the level of love I am called to live as a Christian. Lord thank you for your work on the cross. Without it I would be lost. Your death gives me life. Gives my life a purpose. And with that purpose a promise to be united with you in again. Father I love you more now than ever before. Thank you Jesus. Amen.”
