1 Corinthians 9:27 - The Ultimate Trophy Pt. 2 “No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.”
(1 Corinthians 9:27 NIV)

What you put in your body is critical.
As I was meditating on yesterday’s devotional I realized that is an area where I am a slave to my body.
Especially sugar.
When my body craves sugar, most of the times when I’m stressing, I feed it sugar without reserve. The same for greasy and fried foods.
I know I need help in this area, so all the prayers I can get would be appreciated.
This is a good time to bring up the importance of a consistent fasting lifestyle. We’ve fasted in the past and seen God do some amazing things.
It is truly a way of life that needs to be consistently integrated with your Christian walk. Again, I need help in this area as well.
The wife of my good friend and pastor gave me a good rule of thumb when it comes to the balance between feeding your spirit and body.
She stated…”Every time you eat a meal read a passage of Scripture. Every time you have a snack read a Bible verse. That way your spirit eats just as much as your body.”
I absolutely love this advice.
It’s simple enough to remember and execute, yet powerful enough to strengthen your spiritual walk and change your life.
So join me as I take my eating habits under the submission of the Holy Spirit. Telling my body what is good for it and what I will feed it. Not the other way around.
This is what it takes to be a well-rounded Christian living on the Word of God. These are the small areas in your life that are often not dealt with.
Thank God for a men’s devotional that keeps you sharp and on point!
Lets pray…
“Father I am taking a stand today against what I allow into my body. I know it is a temple and I need to treat it as such. Show me how to eat right. Give me wisdom on the necessary elements I need to be feeding my body on a daily basis. Increase my hunger for you as my hunger for unhealthy foods decreases. Lord give me more and more of you. In Jesus name, Amen”
