Subject: The Midas Touch

Daily encouragement for men of faith
“The Lord will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to. The Lord your God will bless you in the land he is giving you.”

~ Deuteronomy 28:8 NIV
Greek mythology tells a story of King Midas.

When given to opportunity to have any wish granted he choose the ability to turn everything he touched into gold.

King Midas only had “money on his mind” (<- sound familiar?).

As he arrived home he realized everything he touched truly turned into solid gold…even his daughter.

Devastated by the loss King Midas hated wealth until the day of his death.

Unfortunate for King Midas he asked the wrong god for a gift that can only be obtained through obedience the ONE true God.

And although society uses the name of this Greek god to explain when someone is operating in success in all areas of their life, it’s really a biblical principle called obedience.

A principle that shows the goodness of God and how great the blessings of obedience are.

You see only God can make such a promise and deliver. No catches and no “gotcha’s”. Just a reward for showing your love towards Him through obedience.

Don’t get distracted by the shiny things life promises you. When things get tight, don’t fall to the pressure of your surroundings and start looking for an immediate solution.

All the world has to offer is temporary relief to real problems. The world can only pacify your pain.

Instead, trust in God and believe his word. Obey His commands by faith and let him prosper your hands.

The blessings of God on your life will make sure that what ever you set your heart to achieve you will achieve.

The world and its gods call it The Midas Touch. We believers call it obedience.

Lets pray…

“Father I love you. It is out of that love that I choose to obey your commands in my life. Not to get the blessing, but because it is the right thing to do. It shows the condition of my heart. And in doing so I know you will bless me anyhow. Thank you Lord for your continual blessings all over my life. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.”
