Death is a gift.
There is a TV show called The Walking Dead about a worldwide epidemic that has caused people to turn into zombies (walkers) upon dying. There are only a handful of survivors left and they are continually pushed to their limits in order to stay alive.
As I watched and paid attention to the action of these “walkers”, I couldn’t help but draw comparison to the Christian walk.
Walkers: die to flesh and rise in death. Us: die to flesh and rise to new life in the spirit.
Walkers: guided by what they hear or see. Us: walk by faith, not by sight.
Walkers: looking to feed off of flesh. Never satisfied. Us: feed off the Bread of Life. Fully satisfied.
As Christians, our life doesn’t end with death…it begins.
When we die to our flesh it gives the Holy Spirit permission to reside within us. Empowering us over our flesh and keeping it slain daily.
When is your death day? The day you will decide to die to the world and all its entrapments in order to live an abundant life in Christ.
Daily death is the only way to live in Christ.
So either get busy living, or get busy dying. The kingdom is waiting on you.
Let’s pray…
“Father thank you for conquering the grave. Because you died I can now live. Help me to attend my funeral daily. That I will keep the flesh slain so that your Spirit may reign. The world promotes a promise that ends in death. Lord you promote a death that ends in the greatest promise in the world. I choose death in Christ. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.”
