You need a tangible model.
Someone who has been down the road, knows what’s ahead, has lost, and finally overcome.
As men we have an innate drive to figure things out. We see something wrong and we are drawn to fix it. From our jobs to our relationships, men are generally find it, fix it, conquer.
I don’t know about you, but often times in life it’s easy to get caught up in working until things work out. I’m not always in tune with the exhaustion present or the fact there may be a better way of handling things.
This is what happened to Moses as he and the Israelites were in the wilderness. It took Moses’ father-in-law, Jethro, to show Moses he needed to change his approach.
v.24 – Moses listened to his father-in-law and did everything he said.
Who is leading you? Do you have a mentor in your life to reel you in and correct your path when you go astray? How teachable are you?
Whatever God has called you to do, you cannot do it alone. You also cannot afford to be married to a single way of getting things done.
Seek wisdom in all you do. When wisdom finds you listen.
As leaders the best thing we can do to ensure effectiveness is remain teachable. Let’s pray…
“Father send me a mentor. Someone I can model after and confide in when things get difficult. Clean my heart of any pride that may prevent me from taking heed to wise counsel. Through humility, grant me the strength to remain teachable in my spirit no matter how much knowledge I obtain. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.”
