| 1 Samuel 15:22 - Sacrifice Not Required
“To obey is better than sacrifice,” (1 Samuel 15:22 NIV)

I received a revelation from the Lord yesterday that I could not wait to share with you.
God requires your obedience.
When you show God you can fully execute step 1, He unlocks the door to step 2.
No amount of praying, fasting, serving, giving, or reading your bible are valid substitutes to obeying God’s instruction in your life. But a lot of times we act like they are.
I have been frustrated with God for a little while due to my circumstances. My struggle seemed to me that it was unwarranted given how much I had sacrificed for God’s vision in my life.
Every time I prayed it almost felt like I was being ignored.
When God finally opened my eyes I realized pride and disobedience was the cause of my struggle. Not God’s inability to hear and deliver.
Instead of doing the small steps He instructed me to do, I was too focused on taking the big steps I “knew” I had to take in order to get the result I wanted.
Wrong.
That course of action was like telling God…”Lord I hear you, but you don’t know what you’re talking about. This is how I need to do it.”
I had been sacrificing all my money, time, relationships, rest, etc., for the sake of chasing my purpose my way.
But God called me to obedience - not sacrifice.
Friend, the flaw in my thinking was that I couldn’t see how God’s instruction moved me closer to my goal. I couldn’t see the direct connection.
So I just sucked it up and did what He told me to. That’s when He revealed to me…
“My instructions will not always be a clear connection to your desired result, but your obedience to them will always produce it.”
Amen and Amen!
I didn’t need to see how it would work out, I just needed to have faith that it would work out.
Obtaining the promise that God has on your life is dependent on your ability to carry out instructions. You have to show God that no matter the size of the request you will carry it out to the fullest.
I am a living witness, God will honor this obedience far more than any sacrifice you can give Him.
So save your self the pain and just obey.
Lets pray…
“Father help me be obedient to every instruction you give to me. My understanding doesn’t matter. All that matters is that I do what you say. No matter how big or small Lord, give me the faith in you to know that if I just execute…I win. Forgive me for every time I discarded your voice of direction in my life. Today my life is yours Lord. Tell me what to do and I will do it. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.”
