| | “Elisha became angry at the king and exclaimed, “If you had struck it
five or six times, you would completely wipe out the Syrians. Now you
will defeat them only three times.””
~ 2 Kings 13:18-19 NIV |
| If you’re going to take it, you might as well take it all.
When God has given you the green light to claim victory that is not the time to be conservative. You better cease the moment!
This was the King Jehoash’s mistake. Before Elisha died he was instructed to strike the ground. For whatever reason Jehoash stopped striking the ground after 3 times.
This angered Elisha because Jehoash stopped prematurely. Why Jehoash stopped at 3? I’ll never know.
I can only imagine Jehoash thinking “Okay, that should be enough”. Instead of “I’m striking this thing until it breaks! After that I may even use my hands.”
Has God ever been mad at you for doing what Jehoash did?
When God told you to do something you stopped prematurely because you thought what you had done was good enough.
Realize that you may never get that same green light from God again. The moment he gave you was a once in a lifetime opportunity for you to cease all that was in store for you.
Don’t believe me? In the next scripture Elisha dies. Jehoash was never given the same opportunity again. Ever.
So choose not to settle in all things God has given you.
If you have a job, don’t settle for just one stream of income.
If you have a business, don’t settle for just one revenue stream.
If you’re in a relationship, don’t settle for just tolerating and “getting along” with one another.
If God has told you to walk a mile…run two.
Whatever your situation looks like, do not stop until God himself tells you to. How else will you know you have ceased it all?
When this scripture is rewritten with your name in the place of Jehoash, I pray it will say…”And the prophet of God reached out to Friend and said ‘That is enough. You have received the entire blessing and more’”.
Remember, we serve a God of abundance. Not a God of "just enough". Whatever God has for you he has for you in abundance.
It’s up to you to take Him at his word and cease it all.
Lets pray…
“Father give me a relentless Spirit when it comes to ceasing the blessings over my life. I receive in my Spirit all that you have in store for me in abundance, and I will not let up until it is manifested in my life. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.”
