Romans 12:18 - Let It Go “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.”
(Romans 12:18 NIV)
by Chris
Life is too short for holding grudges.
I think of my kids. They can fight with each other and within minutes they’re back to playing together. As if the altercation never happened.
Not grown ups. We hold it against our offender until it turns into anger and comes out as bitterness.
In life I’ve found it’s just not worth it to walk around with those types of internal feelings and thoughts. Wanting to get even or make sure someone pays for what they’ve done is the world’s way of living. Not ours.
We need to try to find a way to live at peace with every one we encounter. This keeps the path to Jesus Christ, through us open, and available at all times for all people.
I’m not saying you have to befriend everybody you meet. In fact, some people require a long-distance-loving-relationship. You still have to use your discernment.
However, for those we encounter often, we must learn to live and let go. We can’t lose focus on the main thing: saving souls.
Jesus paid the price of the cross. He is the one that paved the path. It is our job to make sure the road is visible for the sinner and backslider.
Today make sure the path through you is not blocked with anger, offense, revenge, malice, deceit, or folly.
Lets pray...
“Father, keep our hearts pure. That we may not harness any ill will or bad thoughts towards one another. Let the way we live our lives be seen as an opportunity for all we encounter to get to know Jesus Christ more. In Jesus name we pray...Amen.” |
