Luke 6:26 - Hi Hater “Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for their fathers used to treat the false prophets in the same way.” (Luke 6:26 NASB)
by Chris
The term ‘hater’ has been made widely popular by today’s media.
Initially, it had been given the meaning of someone who anticipates ill will for another. A person who smiles when others fall, or someone who won’t extend help when needed.
It has since evolved into anyone telling someone something that they don’t want to hear or agree with. Even if it's the truth.
In other words, if you don’t want to be held accountable for you actions you simply point your finger at your accuser and call them a hater.
There are many things wrong with this approach to life, but the most glaring is the fact that it’s not biblical.
Jesus was hated since birth, are you to expect any different?
The bible tells us the opposite is true. Jesus instructs us to take heed when there is nothing negative to say about you. When all men agree with your ways.
This is a key indicator of a lack of integrity.
The scripture references false prophets being spoken well of by all men. These prophets were like chameleons. Blending in with the crowd and telling the people what they wanted to hear.
Instead you should expect your lifestyle to rub somebody the wrong way. The way you carry yourself in Christ should raise eyebrows.
We live in a day where people love lies and hate truth. So by default you would receive some form of hate just by walking in truth.
I encourage you to welcome the “haters” in your life today and use them as proof of the truth in you. Don’t be discouraged or dismissive of their behavior and accusations.
Understand that it is the God in you that they are attacking. And it is an honor to be persecuted for such a name.
Lets pray…
“Father, I pray for every person that has ever wished or caused ill will upon me. I forgive them Lord, for they know not what they do. For those that do know, extend grace over them Father. Show me how to love my enemy in spite of. Lord I receive any persecution I may receive for the sake of believing in you. I will take it as confirmation of becoming more like your image. In Jesus name I pray. Amen”
