I remember my first call to ministry.
My church was expanding locations and needed new leaders to step up. I remember having every intent to play the background and just help out.
The first time I actually met the campus pastor he told me I would be head over the entire media ministry. I found this comical because I had never been in a leadership position a day in my life.
Plus, I didn’t have any intentions on doing any more than I was currently doing. Out of respect I didn’t tell him that and I figured I’d just let things play out how I intended.
I had no clue.
I ended up taking on the full leadership role and loving it. Serving was a joy and I got to serve along side of some of the most amazing leaders and people.
To this day I am so thankful to God for that experience and calling me to leadership.
When I compare my experience with Paul’s I see a big underlying theme…
God doesn’t wait on the most opportune time to call you. He calls you at His perfect timing.
How will you respond when he calls you? Will you be dismissive, or will you respond in faith?
God never forces a calling on anybody. It is to your benefit to answer the call. In answering the call your true purpose is revealed and your relationship with Christ deepens.
When God calls you He’s not just trying to get something out of you - He’s trying to get something to you. But you have to be willing to receive it by beginning the journey.
Being called is an honor not a duty.
Who are you to turn down such an honor?

“Father thank you for the calling on my life. Help me to find courage in your word to answer every call by faith. Not just because I know my purpose is tied to it. But to take advantage of every moment I can show you honor Lord. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.” |
