Isaiah 38:17 - Fresh Start

“Surely it was for my benefit that I suffered such anguish. In your love you kept me from the pit of destruction; you have put all my sins behind your back.” (Isaiah 38:17 NIV)

by Chris

These words were spoken from a man who was just spared from his death bed.

King Hezekiah was gravely ill with little time left. Isaiah even delivered a word from God that the king was would not recover.

Upon receiving these words King Hezekiah did something pretty amazing…he prayed and asked God to remember.

He petitioned that God remember his faithfulness and devotion. Hezekiah realized his illness was for his benefit. It was this illness that would bring him to the point of death and ultimately force him face his sins and cry out to God.

God heard and responded.

God instructed Isaiah to deliver the new word of life, instead of death.

The power of prayer changes things. It even has the power to change God’s mind. We pray with words but God hears our heart.

God will always respond to your heart’s condition. He is not fooled by big words and fancy prayers. He wants to hear your heart.

Everything you have been through God sees it. He knows your pain and has seen your tears. He knows it’s hard and you would quit if it was up to you.

But God has given you new life in His word. Renewed strength to carry on and spread the gospel and walk in victory.

So leave yesterday in the past. Today is a new day. Receive a new word from God today and live it out.

Lets pray…

“Lord thank you for life. It gets hard at times, but you are so faithful. Always with me and listening to my prayers. Seeing my tears and not ignoring them. Thank you for the fires of life that you have used to develop my character, build my faith, and keep me humble. I receive the life you have given me and will walk in victory from this day forward. In Jesus name I pray…Amen”
