Matthew 9:30 - Fast and Furious

“But many who are the greatest now will be least important then, and those who seem least important now will be the greatest then.”
(Matthew 9:30 NLT)

by Chris

Look at all the first placers.

They curse, drink, smoke, fornicate (both ways), mock the name of Jesus, and live life how they want to.

Surely they are reaping their reward now. There is no better living for them than the present. They scream “YOLO (You Only Live Once)” while indulging in their life of sin with pride.

Me, on the other hand, am doing two things:
  1. Praying for them
  2. Waiting patiently
Praying that we could be a light in their life that shines the love of Christ on their heart to evoke a change in the inner man.

Waiting patiently for my arrival in heaven. I have my spiritual suitcase packed and am living my life prepared for my exit.

Have you ever had a car speed by on the highway only to see them crashed further up the road? You maintained your speed because you prepared effectively and didn’t have to rush to get to your destination.

When I see people living their lives like this I want to whisper in their ear “Slow down my friend”. I want to tell them to pump the brakes of life.

Brothers, don’t covet this lifestyle. Let the world have theirs now. Don’t envy them pray for them. Share the gospel when the opportunity presents itself.

In the meantime, operate in humility. For it is the meek that shall inherit the earth. Barclay says it best...

“Jesus lays it down that there will be surprises in the final assessment . . . it may be that those who were humble on earth will be great in heaven, and that those who were great in this world will be humbled in the world to come”

Lets pray...

“Father we pray for the “fast and furious”. The ones who have no slowed down in life the give you the true honor and glory you deserve. Through humility, let our light catch their eye. So that they may see a different way of living. A different lane to drive in with a guaranteed destination. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.”
