Job 2:9-10 - Faith Over Everything “ 9 His wife said to him, “Are you still maintaining your integrity? Curse God and die!” 10 He replied, “You are talking like a foolish woman. Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?” In all this, Job did not sin in what he said.” (Job 2:9-10 NIV)

We have to love and respect your wife.
There will be times that God will speak into your life through her, and others where He will speak directly to you with instruction.
It is important to discern the difference between both when acting in faith.
Job gave a stern reply that didn’t belittle or offend his wife, it simply challenged her to shift her perspective.
However, this may not always be the case in your life. Instead of challenging your wife’s response God may be working on your humility and pride and requiring you to listen and take heed to her instruction.
This can be a slippery slope at times because the line between challenge and offense can be very thin and easy to breach.
So how do you love, respect, and challenge your wife without offending her?
The short answer is…you listen to God.
Whether He’s speaking directly to you or directly through her, you listen to God.
What I’ve found to be true is that if God hasn’t spoken to me specifically about a situation He has spoken to her about it.
The key is to know when He has given you a clear instruction or direction that He requires you to take the lead on. You inform your wife, but you don’t necessarily allow her to change your course of action.
This is not being chauvinistic, it’s putting your faith in God above all things. Job wasn’t the first, Abraham was. And you will be required to do the same at some point.
Friend, your faith in God is not to be laid to the side for anybody. What God calls you to do, you must do without resistance.
Love and respect your wife unconditionally. Listen and obey your God completely.
Lets pray…
“Father, make me a better leader of faith for my family. Give me the heart to listen to my wife’s instruction in my life. Empower me to lead her when your word overrides her instruction. And help me discern the difference. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.”
