Walk In It “So let’s stop condemning each other. Decide instead to live in such a way that you will not cause another believer to stumble and fall.” (Romans 14:13 NLT)
by Chris
We may have to dig deep for this one.
Often times in Christianity we look for boundaries of what we can and can’t do. We tend to push the envelope almost to the point of sin, then immediately pull back because we are “saved”.
We feel good as long as we are not committing any of the “known sins” that we’ve been taught to avoid.
But here’s a different perspective…
What if your actions caused your brother to sin?
You may be able to do it and continue your walk, but your brother is unable to do the same without falling.
Are you wrong?
Of course!
Though this scripture is dealing with food, the spirit of the words written apply to our daily walk.
Brothers, we are not like the world looking for the black and white line of what is sin and what it is not. We have the Holy Spirit as our barometer of what is pleasing in God's sight.
A inner conviction that reveals to us that our actions may be detrimental to others besides ourselves.
This conviction helps us think of the impact our actions have on those watching/following instead of what we can “get away with”.
So my challenge to you today is to walk in love towards your fellow brother. If there is something that is questionable that you are involved in or thinking about doing…don’t do it.
The scripture tells us to ignore such conviction is no different than sinning. See for yourself…
“But if you have doubts about whether or not you should eat something, you are sinning if you go ahead and do it. For you are not following your convictions. If you do anything you believe is not right, you are sinning.” (Romans 14:23 NLT)
Lets pray…
“Father, thank you for your love and your blood. You loved us so much that you left your Spirit to comfort and guide us in our walk on earth. Lord help us to be more focused on walking in love towards one another instead of being consumed with our own sins and issues. Let our walk not only be pleasing to you, but free of condemnation towards others. In Jesus name we pray…
Amen”
