Victory
“Because you went for help to the king of Aram and didn’t ask God
for help, you’ve lost a victory over the army of the king of Aram.
Didn’t the Ethiopians and Libyans come against you with superior forces,
completely outclassing you with their chariots and cavalry? But you
asked God for help and he gave you the victory. God
is always on the alert, constantly on the lookout for people who are
totally committed to him. You were foolish to go for human help when you
could have had God’s help. “(2 Chronicles 16:7-9)
Don’t know about you but these devotionals been checking my inner man severely lately.
In this scripture King Asa lost hope in God and looked to man for a victory only God could provide.
Asa was a great king that saw many victories in the Lord, but in this instance he simply chose man over God.
He figured he could do it himself and God could sit out on this one.
Boy was he wrong!
He was immediately rebuked by God’s prophet, promised continual war with his enemy, and afflicted with illness in his feet.
Brothers...it ain’t worth it.
The cost to forfeit all God has done in your past only to rely on man for your future is simply foolish.
But we do it. I know I do.
Every
victory in Christ is given to us to build our strength, faith, and
confidence in God. In times of doubt, we should rely on what God has
done for us before and find comfort that he WILL/CAN do it again.
The victory is always ours in Christ...no man can promise that.
Lets pray...
“Father
we thank you for all that you have done, are doing, and will do in our
lives. Today we want to assure you that our future giants will no longer
be greater than the past works you have done on our behalf. I rebuke
the pride in us that puts the tangible man above our mighty, invisible
God. Lord you are mighty and worthy to be praised... Amen”
