Day 4 - Storm Sleepers
35 That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” 36 Leaving the crowd behind...37 A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. 38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” 39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. 40 He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” ~Mark 4:39-40
Did you see how Jesus was responding in the midst of the “unbearable” storm?
Our Savior was sleep!
Man I wish I could be that cool, calm, and collected during the storms of my life.
But
I find myself similar to the disciples pulling on God for help and
deliverance from my storm. Lacking the faith in believing that He has it
all under control.
Jesus provided the perfect example of how we are to be during the storms of our lives...resting in faith.
Brothers
know this...just because there’s a storm in your life does not mean you
are not in the will of God. In the scripture Jesus called them to the
boat. Meaning, they were following his instruction. Thus, they were in
the will of God.
A lot of people think storms are the consequence of falling away from God.
Not true.
Storms are used to strengthen our faith muscle. How can any muscle grow without great resistance?
During
your next storm, instead of panicking...pray. Endure the storm with
faith in God, and his promise, until the waters of your situation calm.
Lets pray...
“Lord
thank you for peace. Forgive us for forgetting that all things are
subject to your authority. This same authority was given to us by you.
Help us use this authority to be sleepers of our storms. Being confident in knowing the end result is not death, but abundant life in Christ”
Amen.
